AllInNote Keyboard Shortcuts and Productivity Tips
A few shortcuts make working with many notes much faster. Keep this page handy until they become habit.
Moving between notes
- Tab selects the next note and places the cursor at the end of its text.
- Shift + Tab selects the previous note.
- Click a note to select it. Click empty space around the notes to clear the selection.
- While a note is enlarged, Tab carries the enlargement to the next note.
Working with several notes
- Ctrl + click (⌘ + click on Mac) adds or removes a note from the selection.
- With several notes selected, the toolbar actions apply to all of them: Save, Close, Print selected notes, and font, size, bold and italic.
- Close with several selected asks once whether to save any that are unsaved.
Layout and sizing
- Drag a note by its dotted handle to reorder; the others slide aside.
- Drag the border between two notes to resize them; the neighbor shrinks as one grows.
- Double-click a border to make that row or column equal again, or press Reset size for the whole board.
- Double-click a note header, or use the square button, to enlarge it. Esc or a click outside restores it.
Editing and formatting
- Select part of the text, then change font, size, bold or italic to format only that selection. With no selection, the change applies to the whole note.
- Click a web address to open it in a new tab. Hold Ctrl while clicking to place the cursor inside the address instead.
- Pasted text is always inserted as plain text, which keeps notes clean.
- Enter in the name field confirms a rename; Esc cancels it.
Saving
- With a folder selected, typing saves automatically about half a second later.
- A red dot before a note's name means it is not saved to a file yet.
- Save all writes every note, including blank ones.
Habits that help
- Give every note a meaningful name right away; it becomes the file name.
- Use colors for status and keep the rules consistent.
- Pin templates and reference notes.
- Back up your notes folder regularly (see our backup guide).
